My, my, my, this is devilishly good.
"Hyper Knife" mixes a South Korean medical crime drama, with "Dexter" like, serial killer overtones.
For the highly skilled neurosurgeon main character, the Hippocratic Oath, comes with quantifiers, which could see you killed, as quickly as it could see you cured. Interfering in her illegal business as a back street surgeon or taking an unhealthy interest in her personal life, can lead to fatal consequences.
Meantime, her former medical mentor, a starchy, imperious, individual, who only plays by the rules, as long as they suit him, suddenly makes an unwelcome re-appearance in her life. He callously ruined her legitimate medical career but now desperately needs her help. Will she cure or kill, him?
This is the well written premise for the thus far, creatively compellingly series, populated with wickedly intriguing, characterisations.
Perhaps the only downside, is the, at times obsessive need, to flip between past and present. I personally felt, it would have been better to get the back story, largely out of the way, early on, as it tends to disrupt the flow of the unfolding tale.
In summary, this series is, for the most part, brilliant. Its intelligently written, darkly compelling, with intriguing, complex characterisation's driven by very human motives, backed by quality acting. Highly recommended to anyone, like me, who enjoyed the original series of "Dexter".
