"A Family Affair," a recent Netflix release starring Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, Kathy Bates, and that actress from "Kissing Booth" whose name escapes me, is a film that could easily fall into the realm of cheesy and corny. Surprisingly though, it manages to be one of those guilty pleasure movies that you can't help but enjoy.
While it's not groundbreaking by any means, the movie is surprisingly captivating and entertaining. The story revolves around a lonely celebrity who finds love in an unexpected place, his own assistant's mother. Yes, it's a bit cliché with Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman's characters falling for each other, but there are enough twists and surprises to keep things interesting.
There are moments that are cringe-worthy, moments that are heartwarming, and moments that are just plain cheesy. But overall, the film manages to strike a balance that makes it worth watching. It may not be a masterpiece, and it's unlikely to become a favorite that you'll revisit often, but if you're looking for something to pass the time, "Family Love" is worth a watch. It's not as bad as some may think, especially if you're a fan of romantic movies.
