I took a look at House of Darkness, primarily because of Justin Long. I remembered the compelling performance Long gave in Jeepers Creepers. Regrettably, in spite of Long and the cast's best efforts, to my mind, the story of perhaps the lack of one, lets this film down.
I'd not been spoiling anything to say I could find little that was compelling or even interesting here. What made the novel and film adaptations, of Bram Stokers Dracula a success, (upon which this film claims inspiration), is the battle between good and evil. Nothing of the kind transpires here. Its more a long defeat, with an innocent bumbling main character, doomed from the start.
In short, I found this one boring, unimaginative and lacking bite. My advice, if you like Long, watch Jeepers Creepers, instead.
